We are looking for two dynamic, flexible, and enthusiastic band 4 rehabilitation Assistant / Therapy technician's join our Older People’s Inpatient service at Queen Mary’s Hospital., Roehampton
We are looking for individuals with a real passion for inpatient rehabilitation, who may be looking to solidify and enhance their current skill, or step up into a new role, in a supportive environment , working with a diverse caseload
The team works closely together to provide goal-orientated, client centred, continuing rehabilitation, medical intervention and management for patients transferred from St George’s Hospital acute wards and other local acute hospitals.
Queen Mary’s is a purpose built Community hospital with access to a wide range of on site and community services. You will be working on our 42 bedded ward where patients have a wide range of pathologies and complexities including post op rehabilitation, post falls, neurological conditions such as PD, dementia and other medical problems.
Many of our patients are living with frailty and have complex needs requiring a high level of knowledge and skills to manage safe and effective discharges alongside the wider MDT team
Experience of working with older people is required
Previous experience or training as a Trusted Assessor for equipment provisions is desirable for the role, but we would support training for those without this

To work as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team delivering a bed based rehabilitation service and exercise provision for patients with a variety of conditions under the supervision of qualified therapists.
To assess and manage own caseload of allocated patients referred with a variety of presentations adapting and progressing treatment programmes without the direct supervision of a qualified therapist
To work under own initiative and without supervision to provide comprehensive and effective administration of own workload
Be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to providing the best possible service
To provide specified administrative and non clinical support to the qualified therapists within the team.
To participate with qualified therapists in access visits and discharge visits to patients homes, where required, to facilitate discharge
To support the occupational therapists through undertaking functional patient assessments ( self care, ADL etc) and delivering treatment plans to enable greater patient independence with functional tasks
To undertake tasks as a trusted assessor, supporting the Occupational Therapist in assessment for and administering of equipment for functional tasks

Qualifications

- Broad general education including English and maths to GCSE level C or equivalent
- NVQ 3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent academic qualification and /or equivalent level of experience of working as a Physio / OT / Rehab assistant/ PSI training or level 4 Exercise Professional

- Previous Trusted Assessor Training and/or experience as a Trusted assessor
Experience

- Experience of working in an NHS / caring environment
- Previous experience in elderly care, working with older people’s rehabilitation within hospital/ community setting, equivalent to band 3 level or above
- Experience of teaching exercise and functional therapy techniques to patients
- Previous experience of working with a multi disciplinary team

Skills

- Able to communicate efficiently and effectively in English both verbally and in writing to patients, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to carry out therapy tasks for a specific patient group independently
- Able to deliver, monitor and adjust individualised exercise programmes
- Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills
Knowledge

- A knowledge of rehabilitation and issues relating to promoting independence
- Basic clinical knowledge of older people’s health related problems

- Basic level of anatomy and physiology and how this relates to exercise and function
