Job overview

The EPR Team is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for an experienced data warehouse developer to join the BHRUT Data Warehousing team, playing a senior role in the development of the data warehouse to implement the new data model from Oracle Health Millenium EPR.

This is an exciting opportunity right at the heart of the programme to implement the Oracle Health (Cerner) Millennium EPR on a shared domain with Barts Health.

The EPR Data Warehouse team are the architects behind the storage and organization of vast amounts of data that BHRUT uses for strategic decision-making. As EPR Senior Data Warehouse Developer, you will be the senior developer responsible for developing new ETL processes and feeds from the Oracle Health Millenium EPR into the Trust Data Warehouse and documenting workflows and transformations using development best practice and standards. You will also support our small team of Band 6 EPR Data Warehouse Developers, using your experience to coach and guide them.

It is essential that the post holders have a good working experience of data warehousing techniques, preferably using SQL Server and Microsoft BI Stack. Additional knowledge in NHS Datasets, CDS & EPR Systems would be beneficial.

We would welcome informal enquiries in advance, and ask all internal BHRUT staff to discuss any secondment opportunities with their existing line manager before applying.

Main duties of the job

The EPR Senior Data Warehouse Developer will be responsible for developing new and existing ETL feeds for the Trusts Data Warehouse as we implement our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution Oracle Health Millennium for Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).

The role will be responsible for conducting the timely and comprehensive mapping of existing Data Warehouse Feeds, creating a centralised record of ETL processes to support the move to our new EPR.

The role will be responsible for the developing new ETL processes and feeds from the Oracle Health Millenium EPR into the Trust Data Warehouse and documenting workflows and transformations using development best practice and standards.

The role will work with EPR Workstream Leads to ensure that the Oracle Health Millenium data model provide the required information to meet the reporting requirements of the programme and so we can safely report at Go Live.

Change management skills and best practice knowledge will be required to ensure success in this highly complex and high-risk programme of work, with an emphasis on positive movement towards new ways of working with longevity.

Working for our organisation

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we’re no longer in special measures; and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and that our patients are happy with.

Many of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 of them are on apprenticeship programmes and we’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
