Job overview

The Community Rehabilitation Service (CRS) which covers Havering and Barking and Dagenham together with the NELFT Neuropsychology Pathway is pleased to advertise a vacancy for a permanent 0.2 WTE Band 8a Clinical Psychologist (or 7 to 8a development post depending on experience). The post-holder would join a well-established neurorehabilitation multidisciplinary team for one day a week and be supervised by a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist.  Exciting leadership and service development opportunities are likely to be available to the successful candidate through this process.

The teams operate out of two team bases, Porters Avenue Health Centre (RM8 2EQ) and Yew Tree Resource Centre, Romford (RM7 9AA). A mix of on site and remote working can be accommodated in the role.

Candidates interested in this role may be interested combining it with other part-time 8a neuropsychology roles in NELFT.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for delivering timely psychological care after stroke and other neurological conditions using a stepped care model with an emphasis on MDT working and neuropsychological consultation.  This varied and diverse role includes undertaking cognitive and mood screening, MDT joint working, specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, delivery of psychological and neuropsychological interventions as well as teaching and training.

-Psychology Degree with GBC

-Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

-HCPC registered practitioner psychologist

 

Desirable criteria:

-Experience of neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

A vacancy has arisen for a 0.2 WTE Clinical Psychologist in the Community Rehab Service.  Pending interview, a B6/7 development role may be considered dependent on the experience of the successful candidate.

 

In terms of the wider professional network, the post holder would be linked with the NELFT Neuropsychology Pathway and be invited to both the quarterly Stroke Forum and quarterly Neuropsychology Forum as part of ongoing CPD and networking. CPD to support skill development in neurorehabilitation would be actively encouraged and support and advice around career progression in neuropsychology is available through the supervisory relationship. Candidates interested in undertaking specialist training in neuropsychology via the QiCN or equivalent routes would be provided with supervision for this, supported to apply to programmes and supported to apply for NELFT or HEE funding.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Psychology Degree with graduate basis for Chartership GBC
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
Desirable criteria
  • Has commenced the knowledge component of the QiCN or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical Experience working in Stroke/neuro neuropsychology services in any settings
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Experience working in stroke/neuro neuropsychology services in the NHS

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment measures.
  • Good working knowledge of current and emerging areas of good practice in stroke and/or neuro-rehabilitation services
  • Has commenced the knowledge component of the QiCN or equivalent

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Strong commitment to team work and development
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work flexibly and to be responsive to the needs of the service.
