Job overview

This is an opportunity for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to work in the community across South Bedfordshire, primarily in the Community Occupational Therapy Team, though supporting the other services when needs require.

You will hold a full clinical caseload, with a focus on supporting individuals to live independently and safely.  You will be part of a dynamic team that supports student placements and apprenticeships. You will receive and provide monthly supervision and complete a preceptorship course.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a full clinical caseload 
  • To support clients to regain their independence within their own place of residency 
  • Empower and educate service users about their holistic health and well-being to enhance quality of life and prevent relapse, considering the need for rehabilitation, social inclusion and health promotion.
  • To use clinical reasoning and evidence based practices compliant with with Trust policies and National Legislation. 
  • To support junior staff with supervision

Education / qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Preceptorship completed or willing to complete
Desirable criteria
  • Member of RCOT

Experience

  • Achieved a range of clinical experience as a student or junior level
  • Ability to organise/prioritise workload
  • Ability to work alone and part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Community Setting Experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Understand a range of medical conditions
  • Understand changes within the NHS and impacts on therapy services
  • IT Skills

  • Evidence of relevant CPD
