As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the units and will be offered study leave. Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will also be encouraged.

This post does not attract any on-calls, but there is opportunity to join the on-call rota if you would like to.

Furthermore although this is not a resident post, there is opportunity to apply for on-site accommodation to help facilitate potential move to the area for the successful candidate.

RNOH is a national tertiary hospital that provides a comprehensive range of neuromusculoskeletal health care ranging from acute spinal injury and complex bone tumour management to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation.   There are extensive services for children, which the Trust plans to expand over the coming years.

Paediatric Orthopaedics is predominately based on the Stanmore site, with all elective surgery being completed onsite at Stanmore. Some outpatient clinics are held at our central  London facility on Bolsover Street.

Main duties of the job

There will be joint clinics and joint operating sessions in addition to some independent but supervised operating and outpatient sessions.  The fellow will be expected to supervise MDT's and participate in audit research, and the general provision of the service within the unit and ensure the smooth running of day to day activities of the firm.

Working for our organisation

Since its inception in 1905 the hospital has been an acknowledged leader in its field offering a breadth of specialised services unrivalled in the UK.  Within an environment of teaching and research, it is the hospital’s aim to provide the highest standards of clinical care for the assessment and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.

Teaching is inherent to the hospital’s work and the specialist training provided in all disciplines is in great demand both in this country and from abroad. The RNOH Trust works closely with the University of London’s Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Sciences, which is on site and forms the hub of the country’s most comprehensive training programme for orthopaedic surgeons.
