Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed pharmacy technician to provide and develop the clinical service at Horton Rehabilitation Services, within CNWL NHS FT.

Main duties of the job
- Lead on training, auditing and monitoring processes to support the safe & secure handling of medicines across HRS.
- Develop, and support the roll-out of patient self-administration scheme as part of the multi-disciplinary teams on in-patient wards.
- Lead and support in the timely completion of the medicine reconciliation process.
- Lead on reviewing systems and processes to support the cost-effective use of medicines across MH Rehabilitation Services.
- To assist in the development of the onsite Clozapine monitoring service

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To ensure that all medicines are dispensed in accordance with the relevant legislation, local standard operating procedures, and Trust Medicines Policy.
- Assist in the provision of a comprehensive technical dispensing and checking service, which includes calculating, doses, quantities of supply, advice to junior staff regarding problem solving.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
- Accredited with a Medicines Management qualification
Desirable criteria
- Medication Counselling Training
- Accredited checking Technician
- Completed Educational supervisor training (or willing to work towards this)
- Completed an appropriate Leadership course
- Completed Practice supervisor training
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Education and training of pharmacy staff & multi-disciplinary team
- Medicines reconciliation on an inpatient wards
- Experience of supporting patients with their medicines
- Portfolio demonstrating competency of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge, and CPD.
Desirable criteria
- Supervisory/management of staff
- Experience working within mental health services or caring for patients with mental health problems in a healthcare setting
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
Essential criteria
- Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills
- Good communication skills (written and oral)
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Essential criteria
- Ability to understand and empathise with people suffering mental illness
- Methodical with attention to detail
