We're looking for a highly motivated Quality Officer to join the Pathology Quality Team at The Royal Marsden Foundation Trust. The role is based in Sutton with some travel to the Chelsea site required.
Royal Marsden is fortunate to have a strong Pathology Quality Team, and the successful candidate will be an integral part of this team. We work collaboratively with high profile departments, ensuring compliance to a high standard, driving change through compassionate relationships. We ensure compliance and accreditation is achieved and maintained through fostering relationships with all teams whilst focussing on patient care.
Applicants must have experience working in a hospital laboratory, be fully conversant with ISO 15189 and proven experience with quality management and stakeholder engagement. The Trust encourages and actively supports training and development, and wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
Quality Officers will each be responsible for key areas of the Pathology but be able to cross cover each other. The key responsibility is to carry out compliance management for the Pathology department in conjunction with the Pathology Quality Manager and laboratory staff in Pathology. This role will allow the laboratories to meet and become increasingly more effective in the quality and regulatory compliance of its services to ISO 15189.

At Royal Marsden Foundation Trust, we are committed to excellence and continuously seeking ways to improve and enhance patient care. All our pathology laboratories have undergone successful assessments against ISO1589:2022.
You will hold a variety of accountabilities in the laboratory environment. These include, but are not limited to:
· Contribute to the ongoing delivery and improvement of quality management
- Support and lead on reviewing processes and documentation
- Support and lead on reviewing and delivery of quality related trainin
- Support, lead and take part developing risk based audit schedules, and incident investigations
- Chair departmental quality meeting
- Collate and critically review information for quality reports
- Support with the introduction of departmental changes and extensions to scope
- Deputise for the Quality Manager including attendance at meetings, as required
- Support during external assessments
- Ensure compliance relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies, including UKAS.

Skills
Essential criteria
- Strong communication skills in all media including e-mail, phone

Education
Essential criteria
- BMS or BSc degree,
- HPC registration (or previously held) if BMS
- Chartered Scientist status if BMS
- Evidence of continuing post registration study
- Higher degree or equivalent
- Qualification in quality management
- Experience in post MSc / equivalent
- Ability to formulate, perform and evaluate staff training
- Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance issues
