Main duties of the job

This is an exciting secondment opportunity for a year, to be an integral part of the senior leadership in an established multi-disciplinary team. As one of the Senior Nurses, the post holder will be responsible for general management of the ward and safe delivery of patient care including the assessment of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, setting of standards and the supervision and deployment of staff.

As an active part of the care team, the post holder is expected to provide direct patient care when necessary. They will deputise for the Clinical Service Manager and ensure that appropriate staffing and levels of service are maintained, taking management responsibility for the ward as a whole on a shift by shift basis. You will also work in new and innovative ways with partner organizations, working in partnership with secondary care ensuring that the community beds across the whole system are used efficiently.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post registration experience and experience working at band 6 or equivelent
  • Experience of working with Older Adults in an acute or community setting
  • Experience of complex case management.
  • Evidence of clinical leadership skills
  • Experience of multi-agency working across service interfaces
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of successful Change Management
  • Extensive knowledge of older people’s and long-term conditions agenda.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse and current NMC registration
  • Post registration Advanced Clinical Study
  • Qualification in teaching and assessing
Desirable criteria
  • Non-medical Prescriber. Or willingness to undertake this
  • Leadership/Management Qualification or willing to undertake.
