Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic Community Healthcare Support Workers for the Night Nursing Team, to provide care and support for patients in the community setting as delegated by the registered nurse.

Access to a motor vehicle is essential , with appropriate driving license.   Please ensure that your application demonstrates that you meet the essential criteria as listed in the job specification.

The team operates from 1900-0700 hours, 7 days a week. Shifts are from 1900-midnight and from 19.00-0700 hours

 

Main duties of the job

To work within the District Night  Nursing team to provide care and support for patients in the community setting as delegated by the registered nurse. You will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of nursing care, without direct supervision, and may be required to demonstrate simple procedures to qualified and/or unqualified staff undertaking training where agreed with the nursing team.

Essential criteria
  • Providing care in a health or social care related setting
Desirable criteria
  • Working within a community setting
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE Standard; A-C including English and Maths
  • Practical knowldge acquired trough, training, experience or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a health care social setting
Desirable criteria
  • Health care certificate

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of care and related procedures/ clinical observations
  • IT literate with ability to use databases and other software packages
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to produce well written and timely clinical records
  • Basic clinical skills e.g blood pressure, temperature, pulse, urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring
  • Ability to promote self-care of patients
  • Ability to follow guidelines and procedures within agreed boundaries
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the impact of Mental Health e.g. dementia, depression, on the management of medical and logng term conditions
  • Professional standards including confidentiality and clinical governance
  • Infection prevention and control standards
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Knowledge of health and safety and personal safety issues
  • Developed clinical skills, e.g medicines administration, insulin injections, venepucture, continence care, wound care
