Job overview

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to work as Clinical Fellows in our Inpatient Wards in General Adult Psychiatry.

This is for Full time (40 hours per week) posts at South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust, based at Springfield Hospital, Tooting, London.

These posts are being offered at the equivalent of Core Trainee level, and the appointment would be at a grade based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.  The post will be initially for 6 months. But there is the possibility that the posts may be extended for a further 6 months, by mutual agreement and subject to availability and funding.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will work at Springfield Hospital, as part of an MDT in modern in-patient psychiatric wards.  For each of these posts, the clinical supervisor will be the ward consultant, all of whom are based solely on the wards. Each ward also has a second ward doctor (a core trainee or clinical fellow).

However, the posts are suitable for doctors at several stages of their career including Post Foundation Year 2, doctors seeking attainment of specific expertise in an FY3 year, or an additional clinical post while they obtain MRCPsych qualifications.

Working for our organisation

We are Proud to Belong at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.

We have expert services, a rich history and a clear commitment to providing the best quality care for those with mental ill-health. The Care Quality Commission already rates our services as ‘good’ - we aspire to be ‘outstanding’.

This is a great time to join us. We are transforming the way we care for our communities to support our mission of Making Life Better Together. We have built two brand new mental health facilities at Springfield University Hospital, which are amongst the best in the world. More developments are planned across our sites and services.
