Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

·         As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.

·         The Senior Health Care Assistant demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines, and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.

·         Assist with the induction, supervision and training and development of Band 2 Health Care Assistants under the supervision of a registered nurse. 

·         There is the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development.

·         To act as a role model for student nurses and colleagues.

Person specification

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or Diploma Level 3 or equivalent
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE or equivalent
  • Committed to own personal development and evidence of regular attendance at training days.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working with patients in a hospital environment
  • Previous experience of teamwork

Skills and aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to communicate and present written information clearly.
