Job overview

We are looking for a job share (2-3 days) depending on preference. This is to join an existing post holder already established in the role. This is to lead the adult Dietetic team and provide a clinical service to ICU at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Hillingdon Hospital is a busy district general hospital in North West London and has a diverse patient population. It is situated close to Heathrow Airport and Brunel University and within a 10 minute commute by public transport to Uxbridge Town Centre which has excellent transport links to central London. The Trust has on-site accommodation and a crèche. 

Our friendly team consists of 13 Dietitians, 8 Speech & Language Therapists, 1 Nutrition nurse, 3 Administrators and a job share service managers.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and leadership of the adult dietetic team consisting of 6 dietitians, an assistant and a nutrition specialist nurse. They will also be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based dietetic advice to a complex ICU/HDU and surgical caseload within the hospital.  The post holder will require a broad range of highly specialist clinical skills to assess and treat in and out patients including providing cover for the general wards and outpatients caseload.

 

 

Main duties of the job

As well as excellent dietetic knowledge, skills and experience, we are looking for someone who has proven leadership abilities and has experience in providing supervision and support to junior and unqualified staff.  We are fully committed to the development of our people so you can expect a range of opportunities that will support you to develop as a manager and leader.

As the audit lead for the dietetic team the post holder will be expected to undertake clinical audits and support dietetic staff undertaking audits as well as contribute to the wider Inpatient Therapy Governance agenda.  There are excellent opportunities and guidance for ongoing personal development including a well established borough-wide Dietetic network who offer peer support. 

To act as nutrition support lead both clinically and in the area of education.

To deliver specialised nutrition support advice to a variety of in and out patients, which requires in depth clinical knowledge. 

To take the lead on audit across the dietetic team. 

To provide effective and efficient organisation, management and leadership of senior, junior and support staff through supervision, support & personal development process.

  • Degree or equivalent or post graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Evidence of further post graduate study in dietetics at masters level e.g. British Dietetic Association (BDA) postgraduate courses equivalent to Masters degree
  • Evidence of current HCPC registration (State Registered Dietitian)
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced Diploma in Dietetic Practice
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance
  • Member of specialist interest group e.g. BDA PENG
