Job overview
Would you like to develop your clinical experience in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team? The Hillingdon Urgent Treatment Centre provides our local community with the best possible care for patients with minor injuries and illnesses. We are looking for GPs to join our rapidly expanding service for evening, weekend and overnight shifts. Shift lengths negotiable starting from 6 - 12 hours duration, to fit in with your other commitments and activities.
We’re based at Hillingdon Hospital, and are an integral part of providing seamless urgent care to our patients. Co-located with the Emergency Department, the UTC team comprises emergency practitioners, GP's, emergency medicine clinicians, registered nurses, patient champions and a dedicated admin and reception team. There are robust pathways for ongoing management into ED and the wider hospital teams, with easy access to diagnostics, same day emergency care and links with community colleagues
You will need to be a fully qualified GP on the GMC’s GP register. We’d like you to have experience of working in UTC or similar environment. You’ll be organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork, and have excellent time management skills – able to prioritise work and work under pressure. The UTC is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week including bank holidays and we would welcome applicants on a sessional, less than full time and full time basis with fixed shifts available or a rotation of in and out of hours shifts.
Main duties of the job
You will deliver care of the highest clinical standards and will work in conjunction with our Lead GP, Service Manager and the nursing team to ensure effective overall performance of the Hillingdon UTC.

- Fully qualified GP on GMC GP register
- MRCGP
- Current Level 3 Safeguarding for adult and Children
- Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations
- Experience of working in UTC or similar environment
- Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork
- Time management – being able to prioritise work and work under pressure
- Computer literate (Microsoft office) and can work with or rapidly adopt skills in New Clinical IT systems
- Clear, fluent and articulate in verbal and written presentation to patients, the public, clinical colleagues and managers
- Skilled at managing a rapidly changing workload and at dealing with difficult situations
- Acting with integrity – behaving in an open and ethical manner
- A desire to keep the focus on patients’ needs and improving outcomes
- Able to adapt to flexible working patterns and demands • Willingness to share and collaborate across entire primary health team
