Job Purpose

 

This role forms an integral part of mass vaccination delivery within the North West London region. The Pharmacist will work with the lead medicines Optimisation Pharmacist professionally and as part of the wider site vaccination programme delivery team.

 

As the Pharmacist working in immunisations, the post holder will work as a leader, part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the mass delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations. The post holder will be responsible for clinical and governance oversight of multiple vaccination and post-vaccination pods within the large scale vaccination site to ensure the safe and secure handling and management of COVID-19 vaccines in the end-to-end supply chain. They will work closely with the nursing, medical and operational managers on site.

 

The post holder may be required to undertake activities such as clinical assessment; dilution and drawing up on the vaccine from multi-dose vials, as well as support the role of the clinical supervisor in the training and competency assessment of staff, if required.

CLINICAL DUTIES

 

Work closely with health care professionals to ensure appropriate supply and storage of the vaccination needed on site.

  • Responsible for ordering, quality testing, and storing the vaccine and dispensing and transporting it to the pods.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of emergency medicines.
  • Support the draw-up of vaccines and preparation of the vaccination station when required.
  • Support training, understanding and competency of staff on site as needed
  • Minimise clinical risks associated with vaccination use by ensuring that:

Experience

  • Recent clinical nursing experience negotiating and liaising within a multidisciplinary team
  • Working with people with complex health needs
  • Supporting students and other learners e.g. HCAs teaching others in the practice environment
  • Experience of undertaking general assessment by utilising evidence based care.
  • Previous experience in the Nursing process, care planning and fluent in record keeping
  • Experience of providing holistic care that involves the multidisciplinary team

  • Post registration experience in a NHS community environment
