Senior Practitioner

Band 6

Job overview

Bexley Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is excited to announce that we are recruiting a Band 6 Senior Practitioner to join our large team of practitioners, offering CBT informed guided self-help early intervention to children, young people and families within a number of primary and secondary schools within the borough.

Main duties of the job

Mental Health Support Teams are part of a large scale national initiative, aiming to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people within education settings, address health inequalities, improve access and support education colleagues with a whole school approach to wellbeing.

There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health Support Teams will be part of Bexley CAMHS schools pathway.

The senior practitioner role will support the delivery of a wide range of evidence-based interventions, both 1:1 & group, to support young people’s mental health. The role also requires joint working with education colleagues to support the whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing within school settings. The post holder will be part of the senior MHST staff group working to support the delivery & development of a quality service within Bexley.

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about working with young people. The candidate should have worked previously in mental health clinical settings and ideally have some CAMHS experience and supervisory experience. To apply for this position you need to hold a core profession and be registered with a professional body (i.e. nurse, social worker, OT etc).
