Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and enthusiastic Dietitian with experience or interest in paediatrics, to become an integral member of the North East London Foundation Trust's (NELFT) Children's Feeding and Dietetic Service (CFADS) providing a service to the Basildon and Bentwood and Thurrock regions of Essex within the Mid and South Essex ICS.
The Children's Feeding and Dietetic Service includes the Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock Community Dietetic team, The Mid Essex HEF Team, The community non-IgE under 1 milk allergy pathway and the MDT Physical Feeding Team. The teams work together, supporting each other to ensure the patients and families experience is seamless. CFADS consists of dietitians, speech and language therapists, an occupational therapist, a children’s nurse, assistants and administrative support. The following local changes the team has grown from 4 dietitians to 10 in the last 12 months.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the established community dietetic team providing paediatric dietetic advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within NELFT’s communities, with a range of needs including: Enteral feeding, faltering growth, nutrition support, food allergies, coeliac disease, fussy eaters / limited diets, nutritional deficiencies and disordered eating/ ARFID.
The role requires dietetic assessment and management in children aged 0-18 (19 in SEN), across a range of settings including clinics, home visits, education settings and virtually, autonomously and in partnership with other clinicians when indicated and is supported by the Band 7 Team leader and Dietetic Assistant, as well as by the wider team. Our working model includes opportunities to work agilely but you will be based in Wickford.
You will also be actively involved in the development and implementation of evidence based guidance in order to deliver best practice. Currently some of our inhouse developed Blended Diet and general feeding resources are being used by other Dietetic Departments within the UK.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
NELFT place great importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Essential criteria for the post :
Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent post graduate degree
Up to date registration with HCPC
Paediatric experience is desirable.

- Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
- Registered as a Dietitian with the Health Professions Council
- Minimum 2 years experience in Dietetics
- Evidence of the dietetic management of a wide range of complex clinical conditions

- Evidence of further relevant postgraduate study e.g. paediatric course e.g. tier 1 / 2
- UK NHS experience (minimum 1 year)
- Experience of working in a community setting, with paediatric experience
