Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist [Community]

Job overview
The post offers the opportunity to develop clinical leadership skills and enhance the Occupational Therapy services across the pathway, ensuring the occupational needs of service users are addressed and providing an occupational therapy perspective on service delivery.
You will work alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues, as well as a range of other agencies. You will also be contributing to the management of the referral system and assisting the team manager with quality improvement and other specific clinical tasks.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for a complex clinical caseload using evidence-based practice to assess, treat and evaluate interventions.
- Lead on the development and delivery of clinical occupational therapy.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to support service users in the learning disability community forensic team.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with third sector organisations to enhance the recovery pathway of service users as they progress from an inpatient setting into the community by instilling hope and having a genuine impact on their quality of life.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To manage a clinical caseload.
- To work as a member of the MDT.
- To lead on the development of evidence-based OT practice.
- To provide OT specific assessment & interventions via groups & individual work related to: self care, work and leisure.
- To lead on research/audit activities within own area of clinical expertise
- To supervise the work of junior OT staff and OT students on fieldwork placement.
- Contribute to and carry out risk assessment & risk management plans
- To provide specialist OT advice to the MDT,
- To be an OT specialist and have in-depth knowledge of OT assessment & interventions for the client group.

Experience
Essential criteria
- 4 years post registration experience as an OT including a minimum of 2 years as a senior/band 6 practitioner within a relevant mental health /Forensics setting
Desirable criteria
- Forensics LD/ASD experience

Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions relevant to clinical area.
