Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a supportive CAMHs department and support the development of the service being offered to children and young people with Learning Disabilities in Bolton CAMHS.  You will be joining a small, warm and cohesive team working with children and Young people with learning disabilities, with backgrounds in clinical psychology, Psychiatry and Social Work.  Your skills will compliment and enhance our current skill mix.  The team is embedded within a larger and equally friendly CAMHs team and lots of opportunities for liaison and developing your skills exist.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high standards of evidence based client centred care to children and young people with learning disabilities within Bolton CAMHS [CYPMH]. You will need to have a good understanding of the functional assessment of behaviour and the development of positive behavioural support plans and will be expected to provide advice, consultancy and supervision to both internal CAMHS colleagues and colleagues within external partner agencies, as appropriate to grade.

There will be opportunity to contribute and develop audit and research in appropriate areas.

Main duties of the job

A key part of the role will be the development, review and implementation of Positive Behavioural Support Plans for children and young people whose behaviour challenges.

We welcome applications from Learning Disability Nurses, and with suitable experience and training, Mental Health Nurses, Children’s Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, who are committed to improving the lives of service users using a PBS approach.
