Main duties of the job

To provide professional psychological leadership to the Cared For Children and Young People’s (CYP’s) Psychological Services workforce across Wigan and Bolton CAMHS community services and work closely with Wigan and Bolton Local Authorities providing expert clinical guidance on the needs of Cared For CYP ensuring resources are allocated effectively for this population. In collaboration with the other senior members of the CAMH Service, the postholder will contribute to ongoing strategic planning and development of CAMHS provision for Cared For CYP in liaison with other CAMHS specialists, service commissioners, purchasers and multi-agency partners (including Thrive network, social care, and education).

To provide a highly specialist psychological service to Cared For CYP, their families and their care systems  as a member of Community CAMHS Senior Leadership Team. This includes: providing highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions; close liaison with other disciplines and agencies such as health partners, social care, education and Thrive networks; offering consultation and training about client’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues; training professional and non-professionals groups on mental  health issues and developmental trauma; providing clinical supervision within the psychological services staff group and within the MDT; and utilising skills for research, audit, policy and service development.
