Job overview

You will be an integral part of the Acute Medical Team at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury,  working alongside an experienced team of Consultants and junior medical staff. The post will be predominantly based on the Same Day Emergency Care Unit with some ad-hoc cover to the Acute Medical Unit and in-reach into the Accident and Emergency Department. This post does not include any on-call commitments although they can be added on an ad-hoc or rota basis if desired.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to take part in the assessment and management of patients referred to SDEC. This will include taking part in the daily assessment of patients, initiating management plans for these patients and performing procedures (under supervision if needed).

The post holder will also be expected to take a lead role within board rounds and MDT meetings.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Completed at least 4 years full time hospital service in specialities allied to Acute Medicine since first obtaining full registration
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience in other specialties that would complement a career in Acute Medicine.
  • Knowledge of the workings of the NHS. Good organisational skills and time management.
