Catering Retail Assistant 

20 hours over 5 days a week

8.30am - 1.30pm  or 12:30 - 16:30 Monday - Friday 

Every other weekend 10.30am - 16.30 pm 

As soon as the doors open at 8am you are serving customer, whilst the role can be exhausting if can also be very rewarding. Through out the year we have many things going on, from big celebrations of NHS achievements to BBQs whenever the sun shines, no two days are ever the same.  

The main aim of the job is to provide the best possible service and experience for patients, visitors and staff using the Staff Restaurant, whilst maintaining a high standard of Food Safety and Cleanliness.

The dining room is very busy and the successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and at speed. 

Part of the job requires the post holder to prepare salads and sandwiches for lunch, therefore a knowledge of catering is required. 

Main duties of the job

  1. The post holder with be required to;

    • Record food and fridge temperatures, accurately and record the information clearly.
    • Work on the service counter using good customer service and communication skills to engage with customers.
    • Use engagement to drive sales.
    • To deal with all phone enquires to the Staff Restaurant, take orders and pass on any enquires they cannot deal with to the Restaurant supervisor, Head Chef or Catering Manager.
    • Relay information back to the kitchen regarding orders placed or stock needed
    • Take cash and card payment from Customers, balance the till at the end of service, recording all information accurately.
    • Work very closely with other members of the small team, and play their part in delivering the best possible service.
