Job overview

We're looking for a HR professional to join our team as a HR Advisor . We would be open to discussing alternative ways of working including flexible working arrangements. 

The HR Advisor will work to provide a high quality, comprehensive and effective generalist operational Human Resources service. They will also support the  HR Business Partner in the delivery of HR and organisational objectives.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a high quality, comprehensive and effective range of generalist HR services to management and staff of designated areas you support.

To provide professional advice and support to managers on the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures, terms and conditions of service and legislation, promoting good employee relations at all times and ensuring legal obligations are maintained.

To case manage a range of complex Employee Relations issues and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels throughout this process.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • CIPD level 5
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience
  • Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial HR experience at an Advisory level
  • Experience of using HR databases to record and access information
  • Experience in managing complex employee relations cases
  • Manage a varied workload and prioritise accordingly
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a large complex unionised organisation
  • Experience of undertaking agenda for change matching panels.
  • Substantial generalist HR experience within the NHS or Local Authority

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound understanding of HR policies and procedures including up to date knowledge of Employment Law and Best Practice
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of using ESR

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to plan, organise and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to build positive relationships with managers, colleagues, trade unions etc
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of staff/management
