Job overview

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Registered Pharmacy Technician for a Homecare and High Cost Drugs Technician role.

We are keen to develop the roles of our technical staff and to support their training and progression. This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills in a specialised area of pharmacy in order to expand your knowledge and experience within your pharmacy technician role.

 

Main duties of the job

Your role will include assisting in the development, provision, and maintenance of safe, efficient, and professional homecare services at Bury, Rochdale, and Oldham (BRO), part of the Northern Care Alliance, in line with national standards, guidelines, local policy, and procedures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good communication and teamwork skills. If you are able to work under pressure and keen to develop yourself, we would like to hear from you.

As a self-motivated and enthusiastic professional, you must have a BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised qualification and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Possession of the BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Dispensing Technician Checking is preferable.

There will be a requirement to participate in extended working hours, including late nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Essential criteria
  • BTEC National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science and NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
  • BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Dispensing Technician Checking

Knowledge, training and experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy
  • Pharmacy software experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge or experience in Homecare.
  • Awareness of the duties involved in the post.

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and written communication, including by telephone and email.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload (time management), use initiative and work unsupervised.
  • Steady and dependable but willing to accept change readily.
  • Ability to work under pressure and organisation skills.
  • Microsoft Office Package.
Desirable criteria
  • Team leader, leadership, project management skills.
