The Phlebotomy team at Fairfield General Hospital requires an additional staff member to support an expansion of the existing team in their multi-departmental service delivery.

The clinics will be running a 7 day service and there will be expectations for the post holder to work some weekends each month.

Duties will involve taking blood samples from patients on all acute wards both Covid and non-Covid wards and working in the blood room within outpatients.

Whilst previous phlebotomy experience is an advantage, it is not essential.

Successful candidates will attend the Quality and Credit Framework Unit 48, Level 3 Venepuncture course prior to undertaking any practice as arranged with Trust Education Department. Practical assessments will take place in work place.

Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.

The main duties of the role will involve undertaking venepuncture within a ward and outpatient setting.

Important skills needed for the job role are:-

  • Willingness to undertake training to nationally recognised standard.
  • Ability to work within a team and alone as required.
  • Ability to liaise with patients in a sensitive manner.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work under demanding circumstances and to deadlines.
  • Ability to follow protocols and policies.
  • Be flexible with working hours.
  • Good communication skills.
