Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical officer – Homecare Services

Job overview

To be responsible for the efficient processing of purchase orders and invoicing for homecare pharmaceutical products within the pharmacy stock control system, as part of assisting the senior homecare technician with the receipting of homecare pharmaceutical products.

To support the Senior Pharmacy Technician-Homecare & High-Cost Drugs, Lead High-Cost Drugs, and Homecare Pharmacist in the coordination of homecare medicine services within Bury, Rochdale, and Oldham, the Northern Care Alliance NHS trust.

Main duties of the job

To be a point of contact to assist the Homecare technicians within the Trust regarding Medicines home delivery service for Home Care Companies, Pharmacists, Clinicians, Purchasers, Contracting and Finance.

To assists with the co-ordination of the pharmacy homecare medicines service and prioritising the workload set by the co-ordinator to ensure problems arising are resolved. 

To assists the homecare manager, pharmacists, and technicians in ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current homecare medicines management guidance. 

To participate in Dispensary working rota.

The post holder will be required to follow policies and procedures and communicate effectively as appropriate.

To attend departmental meetings with staff members from the multi-disciplinary team.

Shortlisting Criteria

Essential criteria
  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (A-D grades)
  • Microsoft Office experience. Minimum standard Intermediate Excel and Word – preferably Advanced level
  • Organisational and time management skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services
  • Hospital Pharmacy Experience
  • Experience of Pharmacy software (preferably Ascribe/Emis)
