Job overview

The successful candidate will be working on Brook ward, a 22-bedded all male acute assessment ward with ensuite facilities. This is based at the Moorside Unit, on the site of Trafford General Hospital. It is part of the Trafford Directorate.

Main duties of the job

·       The post holder will be based at Moorside Unit. The Specialty doctor will be a senior member of the team providing medical leadership and day to day medical care for patients t as well as supporting and contributing to the management and development of the ward functioning.

·       The post holder will primarily conduct ward rounds as deputised by the Responsible Clinician. This will involve new patient assessments and follow up of patients in consecutive weeks to facilitate treatment and plan a safe discharge, 

  • The post holder will be expected to be Section 12 approved. They will be expected to become involved in Mental Health Act work as required including attending tribunals and manager’s hearings.
  • The post holder will be encouraged to engage in teaching and training of various members of the multidisciplinary team and provide supervision to members of the team.
  • The post holder will be expected to contribute to clinical audit and will be able to participate in research.
  • The post holder will be professionally accountable to the Lead Consultants and operationally accountable to the Head of Operations
  • There are cross cover arrangements in place for annual leave/study leave. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this cross-cover arrangement to provide clinical input to the other wards when required.
