Job overview

We are looking for individuals that can provide a service to patients and staff in release of health records under the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act. 

Ideally you will have a good understanding of patient confidentiality and a basic understanding of the legislation.  You will be responsible for the efficient and accurate release of information requested in line with legal timeframes for your own portfolio of cases. 

Support will be provided across the team with specific training in process where needed.

This is an agile role and can be based at Salford or Oldham or with Home Working (minimum 1 office day per week).

Main duties of the job

The post holders are responsible for assisting the Information Access Manager with the delivery of service within the department, ensuring the efficient/accurate release of information requested. Specifically, this role is associated with duties supporting subject access rights under the Data Protection/GDPR and Freedom of Information within the Trust.

The role is crucial to the success and smooth management of all aspects of this function, including the commitment to and support of the following initiatives:

  • Data Protection Act/GDPR compliance
  • Freedom of Information Act compliance

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ2 in Customer Service or equivalent
  • Educated to GCSE/O level standard
  • Evidence of professional and/or personal staff development
Desirable criteria
  • Information Governance training/qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of patient confidentiality standards
  • Basic understanding of Data Protection legislation and principles
  • Basic understanding of Freedom of Information legislation
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office 365

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Administration experience in a busy office environment, preferably within the NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within information assurance
  • Experience of communicating with senior managers/directors/external organisations
