Job overview
To assist the office manager in ensuring the facilities within the healthcare department are effectively managed, you will provide a high standard of portering services and housekeeping, escorting visitors and contractors into and around the prison. You will deal with patients, healthcare colleagues and other professionals over the phone and face to face.
The post holder will be a motivated and enthusiastic person who will have the necessary skills to support and monitor our partners, AMEY who deliver the estates and cleaning contract within the prisons, ensuring the department is maintained to appropriate standards for the delivery of healthcare services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide effective support, share knowledge, skills and expertise with healthcare and AMEY staff in providing clean safe environments for patients, visitors and colleagues in line with HMPPS cleaning and estates contracts. You will require the appropriate people, co-ordination, communication and collaborative skills to undertake this task effectively.
The post holder may need to work flexibly to respond to the needs of the service and the department, which operates on multiple sites on a 7 day a week, 365 days a year basis.
The post holder will require knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH and Infection Prevention strategies, relating to standards of hospital cleanliness such as Personal Protective Equipment and Colour Coding and Moving and Handling.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised competency based level 1/2 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. NVQ or equivalent demonstrable experience)”

- A willingness to undertake training relating to the post.
Experience

- Experience of working within a public facing/cleaning or domestic environment managing/supporting staff. Demonstrates ability to use resources (e.g. equipment) within the work place

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
