Job overview
Applications are invited for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Cardiac Cross-Sectional Imaging, to be based at Wythenshawe Hospital (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).
If you are seeking a period of higher training in Cardiac Cross-Sectional Imaging, and are from a Cardiology or Radiology background, then we would love to hear from you.
You will be part of a busy Cross-Sectional Imaging unit, which runs Cardiac Imaging lists every day, with dedicated consultant support. Furthermore, the post will offer you the chance to further enhance your cardiac cross-sectional imaging skills. You will support the wider directorate team with your diagnostic skillset and work towards independent reporting of scans, whilst supported by the consultant team.
Due to the short-term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a current registration with the GMC at the time of application, whether it be an active licence, crased licence or pending application - MFT cannot support GMC sponsorship for vacancies less than 12 months fixed term. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.
Please note: MFT is not a right to work sponsoring organisation for Tier 5. Should a candidate require Tier 5 sponsorship, they must apply through the Academy of Royal College via the MTI scheme.
Main duties of the job
The role will focus on honing your skills in supervising and reporting cross-sectional imaging scans, for both cardiac MR and cardiac CT. You will work towards, or enhance skills gained from completing, certification to report scans independently.
You will support the wider Cardiology directorate by delivering a high-quality diagnostic service, and contribute to the relevant MDT meetings (the department has strong links with specialist regional service groups such as ACHD, ICC, Structural Heart Disease etc.
You will play a key part in the department's discrepancy meeting and will have the opportunity to contribute to departmental research.
