Advanced Podiatrist in high risk 37.5 hours per week Band 7

An opportunity has arisen for an Advanced podiatrist within community services in South Manchester. The successful post holder will manage a caseload of patients with complex high-risk foot conditions and provide mentorship to the rest of the team.

This role is for a well motivated HCPC registered podiatrist with the relevant post graduate clinical experience to provide expert care for patients with pathological foot conditions. The post holder is required to have good diagnostic and clinical skills to deliver a range of podiatry treatments including wound care, vascular assessment and off loading.

The post offers opportunities to support our secondary care clinics in vascular and the diabetes MDT in Wythenshawe Hospital 


Applications are invited from HCPC registered podiatrists who have relevant experience working within the high risk field of podiatric medicine with a willingness develop the foot protection team.

Applicants must have the ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries with excellent communication skills at all levels as well as the commitment to be flexible to suit the needs of the service.
You will be working closely with a friendly team of podiatrists, who work mainly in the community clinics as well as domiciliary settings. The podiatry department has close links with the hospital orthopaedic, vascular and diabetes services.  

 

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient, effective and consistently high-quality podiatry service to patients of Manchester Local Care Organisation Trust or other governing Trust or organisation

 

To develop and provide care to patients, particularly those with diabetes but also other “at – risk” groups using protocols of care and working collaboratively with other healthcare staff.

 

To assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised care programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic diseases e.g. diabetes and renal disease, vascular problems and wound management. 

 

The post-holder will be highly specialised with knowledge of acute and chronic wound care management.

 

The post holder will be required to work independently to provide a high standard of quality clinical care.

 

The post holder will also be expected to plan and manage their own caseload, which will include providing specialist care for patients with diabetes and other complex conditions.

 

To support the Podiatry Manager by undertaking management and leadership responsibilities appropriate to the band.
