The opportunity has arisen  for a Catering Services Manager, band 6, at Royal Oldham Hospital, Oldham.

Catering Services Manager  

37.5 hours a week Monday - Friday

The position reports directly to the Deputy and Head of Catering services.

Managing a combined patient and retail team, with support from Deputy Catering Service Managers, and five supervisors. 

Role and responsibilities include the 650day provision of patient feeding,  beds at ROH and 2 satellite units.

The retail units include a staff restaurant for staff and visitors.

All profit and loss responsibilities and the correct standards of operation are managed via the CSM with delegated duties through to the Deputy Managers.

HACCP systems and all legislative requirements are managed by the CSM with delegated responsibility to DCSMs.

An annual EHO inspection is managed by the CSM.

 

Main duties of the job

Effectively support and manage the team in the day to day running of the department, including manpower management, Food Hygiene and Health and Safety compliance

Attend Trust and external meetings as the catering representative. Be involved in gathering & interpreting relevant information and cascading to staff. This may involve presenting to departmental meetings.

Exercise effective budget controls, ensuring that cost centre within catering services is contained and within pre-determined targets. Analyse data to enable the unit to run at their most efficient

Manage the food production team. This will include organising staffing, ordering food, transportation and communication between kitchen and food service staff to ensure an efficient effective service

Manage the department to ensure it is compliant with all mandatory training and appraisals. To be actively involved in ensuring that local statutory training is up to date, Food Safety, Allergen and COSHH. Implement and manage a staff development programme. Work with Learning & Development and outside collages. Be involved with identifying the need for training within your department

. Attention to detail to the fore, able to see potential hazards, poor planning, and execution etc, and to take remedial steps to improve the situation.
