The main purpose of the job is to provide and support a clinical infection service to the NCA.  This includes the requirement to advise on diagnosis and management of infection, to liaise with laboratory staff to assist with the reporting of organisms of medical importance and interpretation, validation and verification of results.  Infection Control will be an integral part of the job including close working with the infection, prevention and control nursing team. You will be working closely with Anti-microbial Pharmacists and contribute to the anti-microbial stewardship programme.

Other duties include telephone consultations with clinical staff, ward visits and rounds including Critical Care, Contribution to Antibiotic Stewardship including antibiotic ward rounds, liaison with laboratory staff and support of infection control services including Root Cause Analysis of infections such as C.difficile and MRSA.
