Infant Feeding Midwife

Band 6

Job overview

Are you a midwife with a keen interest in Infant Feeding ?

We are seeking an experienced, proactive midwife with a good knowledge base in this interesting area of midwifery to be part of a small team, serving both Rochdale and Oldham Care Organisations. As the Infant Feeding Midwife you will assist in providing birthing people with feeding support and will contribute to the public health agenda.

No two days are the same in the Infant Feeding service. You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads. The post holder will need to be confident enough to assist in driving local change to meet the expectations and standards set by the national programmes.

The role will be cross-site to cover both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly to both sites and to outside events/meetings/visits as and when necessary.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge with a positive approach to infant feeding across maternity and neonatal units.

Offer infant feeding support to women and their families.

Support colleagues to manage complex feeding issues.

Ensure infant feeding practice/plans are evidence based and is appropriate for each family.

Participate in implementing the UNICEF BFI UK programme across maternity and neonatal units (policies, guidelines, audit and training).
