Senior Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary Services

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Senior Pharmacy Technician with substantial hospital pharmacy knowledge and experience of managing /supervising a team and services that include dispensary, ward and distribution.

Your role will include the maintenance and development of a safe, efficient and professional hospital pharmacy dispensary. The post holder will develop a responsive dispensary service that meets patient and hospital staff needs in accordance with legislation and guidance.

 

Main duties of the job

You will ensure that all staff involved in dispensary services are trained to a high standard, working in accordance with Trust policy, departmental procedures and regional and national standards of practice. 

You should possess the drive to successfully implement change to improve the patient experience through innovation and leadership. You must have excellent communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to demonstrate commitment to self-development and the development of others.

You will be responsible for the efficient running of the dispensary, this will include staff management, training, recruitment, performance management and stock management within the dispensary. There will also be a requirement to audit and develop your area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
  • BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services. Or the recognised equivalent to the above
  • BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Dispensing Technician Checking Or the recognised equivalent to the above
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience within an acute hospital pharmacy environment
  • Experience of all areas of hospital Pharmacy Services, including Dispensary and Ward Services
