Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Physiotherapist to join our surgical Team for a 9 month period.
We are looking for a motivated, dedicated and innovative individual who is eager to expand their knowledge in the field of colorectal surgery, including respiratory and vascular care, who has a passion for assessing and treating complex respiratory patients in both inpatient and out patient settings. You would see a variety of patients and lead by example with your passion for improving clinical outcomes and care provision. This is a really exciting time for our service as we continue to develop and implement change, innovation and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
You will manage a highly complex caseload of patients as a specialist in colorectal and vascular care. This includes progressing treatment of surgical/ICU step down patients recovering from complex colorectal procedures and management of post operative respiratory complications. You will provide support as appropriate with patients on the vascular ward, including amputees- some of which may be in the outpatient setting during prosthetic rehabilitation .
You will be required to deliver training in your own discipline, and contribute to the training of other disciplines within the team. You will be an integral participant of the service development, audit and QI initiatives.
You will be a team player with good leadership skills and significant experience of supervising staff /students are essential criteria. You should have demonstrable post registration experience, ideally working at a Band 6 level, in the acute setting
You will be expected to contribute to the weekend working service at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Qualifications / registration
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registered in Physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- Member of the CSP
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working at Band 5 or Band 6 level or above within relevant field
- Undertaken significant CPD / postgraduate training in area of speciality
- Experience of working in a complex MDT
- Evidence of effective communication skills with patients with altered cognition and barriers to communication
- Evidence of autonomous decision making in an acute clinical setting
- Evidence of assessing and treating a wide variety of patients following complex surgical procedures
- Evidence of assessing and treating a wide variety of patients with respiratory condition
- Evidence of assessing and treating vascular patients including amputees
- Evidence of leadership experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of involvement in research related to relevant field
Skills

- Evidence of conflict management
- Strong evidence of supervision / competent clinical educator in a clinical setting
