We are a clinically led team passionate about delivering the best possible care for our patients and communities and we look forward to welcoming like-minded individuals to our team. We are led by an energetic and dynamic leadership team with clear vision for the continued success of Diagnostics and Pharmacy Services across the NCA. This is a determined team with exciting plans for growth and development in the future across the whole of Greater Manchester. We are looking for a skilled professional with equal vision, tenacity, and flexibility in their approach.

You will support the Infection Sciences team within the microbiology departments based at The Royal Oldham Hospital and Salford Royal Hospital. You will work closely with medical microbiology colleagues across five hospitals within the NCA as well as Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh NHS Trust as part of the Pathology at Wigan & Salford (PAWS) network. You will join a vibrant clinical virology team and work closely with multidisciplinary teams based both within the acute NHS Trusts and the community.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must hold a full registration with a license to practice from the General Medical Council or be a HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Scientist in Virology.

Additionally, a primary medical qualification or a Phd in Virology (for Consultant Clinical Scientists) along with successful completion of FRCPath part 1&2 (applicants within 6 months of competing part 2 are also eligible to apply) or equivalent qualification is essential.

As a strong team player, you will be someone who remains calm under pressure, with an ability to take initiative and show leadership as and when required.

There will be opportunities to be involved in the training and mentoring of junior doctors in Infection Sciences as well as partake in quality improvement, audit, and research.

For non-medical applicants, discussions will be had with the successful candidate to determine the appropriate pay scale aligned with AFC and previous experience.
