Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a trainee Advanced clinical Practitioner (ACP) to train to master’s degree level whilst work within an exciting new service development within Pennine Care. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with children and young people and working innovatively across pathways and traditional boundaries to ensure that young people get the right care, from the right clinician/team, at the right time and in the right place in order to improve their outcomes and the families/carers experience of mental health support.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced qualified mental health practitioner to train and   work alongside the highly skilled existing team consisting of Mental health practitioners, youth support workers, Operational manager, Advanced clinical practitioner, consultant psychologist and input from CAMHS consultant psychiatrist.  The successful candidate when qualified will offer clinical leadership, advanced level of assessments and risk formulations for CYP seen in the crisis service. They will have responsibilities for the training needs of the workforce and provide clinical supervision to those providing assessment, support, signposting as well as therapeutic intervention where appropriate to young people who required crisis support within our CYP crisis care service. The service provides   rapid response, home treatment and paediatric liaison across the Pennine Care footprint.

Main duties of the job

To act in a clinically autonomous way to develop advanced practice

To develop robust multidisciplinary working relationships to support the co-ordinated provision of highest standards of care to CYP living with emotional health and well-being difficulties.

Be responsible for the provision of data and information as required to support the monitoring of appropriate performance measures and outcomes both at an individual CYP and whole service level.

To work as an autonomous health care professional and be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work.

To work in partnership with GPs, other health and social care professionals and education services, to apply advanced skills to interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical findings using advanced clinical reasoning and problem solving skills to support formulation in a wide range of complex presentations and to recommend the appropriate intervention and develop comprehensive and individualistic care plans to provide best possible outcomes.

To support and contribute to the development of new models of care away from hospital

To evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and respond appropriately. 

To work in partnership with integrated teams of health and social care professionals to ascertain care plans and initiate interventions.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Maths A-C/4-9 or Functional Skills level 2.
  • Degree level qualification in either Nursing, Psychology, AHP, etc •
  • Up to date Professional Registration with NMC or HCPC
  • Clinical supervision training and experience
  • Short courses and experience to Master’s level
  • Commitment to complete training as an Advanced Practitioner
  • Experience of working with service users’ with complex needs, and their families /Carers
  • Compiling protocols and clinical guidance
  • Audit
  • Significant experience of working at a senior clinical level
  • Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/Specialty
  • Advanced clinical practice skills
  • Management of service users’ and their families / carers’ with complex needs

Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification
  • Speciality qualification – Non-medical prescribing
