Job overview
The post holder will work in partnership with service users, the multi-disciplinary team, and local stakeholders to improve and protect health and wellbeing,. Key work will focus upon ensuring the maternity vaccination programme is effectively implemented by appropriately trained staff and monitor the service to record and provide assurance that specified KPIs are achieved.
You will provide day to day support and supervision of the Maternity Immunisation Clinics, contributing to the delivery of a safe, professional, effective, and efficient service. You will provide advice and information to educate staff, service users, and other stakeholders, and adopt a woman-centred approach to public health to improve health and tackle inequalities.
You will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the antenatal immunisation programme delivery and promote uptake of influenza, pertussis, COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccination Programmes.
The post holder will represent the Trust at local, regional, and national level when appropriate, influencing service development in relation to public health. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Clinical Midwifery Management Team to further develop related pathways and guidelines to assure appropriate and responsive care.
Main duties of the job
· Provide specialist advice and support on Immunisation matters to all health care professionals and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary / multi-agency teams, facilitate development of the service within the hospital and community settings.
· Developing in-house training and education programmes. Regularly delivering training on the immunisation programme for new and relevant members of the midwifery team and other relevant stakeholders (such as family partnership nurses, health visitors, etc)
- Providing oversight and day to day support and supervision of the Maternity Vaccination service contributing to the delivery of a safe, professional, effective and efficient service. You will undertake the planning, implementation and evaluation of the antenatal immunisation programme delivery.
· Engaging obstetricians with regard to their role in the immunisation programme.
· Linking with the Immunisation Service providers to ensure the approach to immunisation related development is consistent with that taken in other areas of the Trust.
· Managerial and professional accountability for the effective delivery of care for women around tobacco dependence in accordance with national; regional and local guidelines.
· Lead and guide the development and facilitation of parent education, developing new service initiatives in the community and hospital setting.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife on NMC Register
- Post-registration qualification or evidence of further study to Degree level and experience (i.e., preceptorship, managerial / leadership qualifications, public health qualifications)
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
- Awareness of current issues in maternity care and immunisations as part of the public health agenda
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good working knowledge of current midwifery practice.
- Sound knowledge of national and local policies relevant to vaccination programmes.
- Understanding of clinical governance audit and research
- Knowledge of medicines management, risk management and clinical governance and the relevance to practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Midwife with experience of antenatal care.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
- An excellent clinical record
- Experience administering vaccinations in pregnancy with up-to-date clinical competencies to safety prepare and administer vaccinations
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in the implementation of service improvements
- Evidence of delivering high quality teaching to staff groups
