Programme Lead - IPT-A Training Programme

Job overview

We are delighted to seek an experienced and highly motivated candidate to lead on Children and Young Peoples Psychological Trainings IPT-A PG Certificate. Based at GMMH Psychological Therapies Training Centre who are renowned for providing high quality training to students in evidence-based psychological therapy across the North West UK and beyond.

 

The course provides training in knowledge and skills required to become an IPT-A Accredited Therapist.  Trainees learn to deliver IPT-A evidence-based model, engage with ongoing teaching and supervision, and cover broader CYP PT and cross pathway teachings. 

 

Candidates will have substantial experience of delivering IPT-A and IPT-A supervision and or IPT supervision with experience of working with adolescents. We are looking to recruit a lead with knowledge and experience of teaching/training and supervision, both individually and in groups.  Applicants will need an interest in IPT-A research and knowledge and understanding of training in IPT-A practice. They will have excellent communication and organisational skills, being able to participate in all aspects of training.

Ideal candidates will be registered with IPT UK as an IPT Therapist and Supervisor, hold a relevant masters degree (or equivalent) and have experience in delivering this therapy with Adolescents.

 

This is a fixed term post for two years.  Secondment can be offered with the agreement of applicant's existing employer.

Main duties of the job

To lead and coordinate the delivery, development and evaluation of the Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents IPT-A) pathway of a high quality Postgraduate Certificate programme in Evidence Based Practice for Children and Young People (CYP) for mental health and social care professionals working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) or equivalent, as part of the CYP Psychological Trainings (formerly CYP IAPT) project.

Person specification

Education/qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualification in one of the main mental health, health or social care professions with a minimum of six years’ post qualification experience in mental health relevant settings.
  • Masters level qualification or post qualification training and experience equivalent to this.
Desirable criteria
  • Qualifications in training/ education and clinical supervision
  • IPT UK Accredited Trainer

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience of delivering IPT-A training and/or other types of training and supervision to a range of other professionals.
  • Substantial supervised practice experience of using IPT-A in CYP settings.
  • Experience of strategic liaison with managers, workforce leads and commissioners. to a range of other professionals including use of standardised CBT measures of competency
Desirable criteria
  • Track record of successful delivery of training programmes in IPT-A and/ or other project leadership

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of national policy and strategic context of CAMHS workforce development in relation to IPT-A.
  • Ability to evaluate highly complex situations that require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options (e.g. formulation of complex clinical problems) within the IPT-A model and to advise other professionals regarding these.
