Job overview

As Peer Support and Training Coordinator for GMMH Recovery Academy Team you will be responsible for the development and delivery of a wide range of Recovery Academy training programmes to meet the needs of our students (service users, carers, and staff).   You will co-produce and co-deliver these training programmes in partnership with people with lived experience and provide supervision and support to our sessional trainers.

You will also support us to recruit, induct, train and supervise our Peer Support Workforce across GMMH delivering our accredited level 3 programmes in line with our Awarding Body requirements and support our peers and operational services to get the most out of these roles.

Main duties of the job

To lead on the recruitment, induction, training and supervision of Peer Mentors and Peer Support Workers within Trust mental health services and to work with clinical teams and operational managers to firmly embed the roles for future sustainability.

To lead on the development, review, delivery, and evaluation of learning and development programmes aimed at developing the knowledge and skills of Peer Mentors and Peer Support Workers working in partnership with the Trust Recovery Academy, other training providers and Awarding Bodies.

To lead on the development and delivery of wider Recovery Academy Training programmes, providing supervision and support to sessional trainers with lived experience.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level/equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in psychosocial interventions e.g. MI, CBT or Psychological Well Being Practitioner

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of delivering a wide range of psychosocial interventions in a one-to-one and group setting with people with mental health and/or addiction difficulties
  • Experience of developing, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating training programmes
  • Experience of facilitating individual and group supervision
  • Experience of organising and delivering projects in line with set objectives
  • Experience of working as a team in order to achieve a shared vision/goal
  • Experience of service development and managing change

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the health and social care agenda in relation to mental health and substance misuse services
  • Understanding of the physical, psychological, and social effects of mental health and substance misuse and appropriate assessments and interventions

  • Knowledge and understanding of the peer mentorship agenda in mental health
  • Knowledge and understanding of Recovery Colleges in mental health

Other Requirements

Essential criteria
  • There is an occasional requirement to travel across the wide footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
  • Due to the geographic spread of the Trust services there may be a requirement to stay away from home to deliver training and attend meetings from time to time. The Trust will arrange and fund all accommodation costs. Other costs such as mileage will be reimbursed in line with Trust policy.
