Main duties of the job

Join our dynamic healthcare team and take on a pivotal role in transforming patient care! As a key player in the management of our ward/department, you’ll not only support daily operations but also step up as the manager when needed, ensuring seamless care within a 6-day rota system (soon expanding to 7 days).

Bring your passion for leadership to the forefront as you inspire and mentor our dedicated staff. Your influence will extend to promoting innovative practices and fostering educational growth on a departmental level, making a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues alike.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Notable Years experience at Band 6 or Senior band 5
  • Adult Nursing registered with NMC
Desirable criteria
  • ENB346 or substantial years equivalent ophthalmic experience

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work with a team
  • To demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for the ophthalmic patient and have knowledge of Intravitreal injections
  • Good communication skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • To demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for the day case patient
Desirable criteria
  • Ophthalmic day case experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Be able to plan for and organise staffing levels
  • Good communication/team leader skills
  • To present work in a methodical/timely organised manner
  • Good knowledge of computer software e.g. Microsoft, e-mail
  • To demonstrate the ability to work within a team and under own initiative
  • Plan and implement rosters
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of electronic patient records
