Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen  for an experienced dermatology specialist nurse  to work within a team of skilled dermatology team members , delivering a high standard of evidence based clinical care to patients, and their carers working as part of the inflammatory skin disease nursing  service supporting Salford and Stockport services. The role will involve delivering Biologics and Drug monitoring  screening and followup clinics.  The post is 30 hour per week, part time and will involve working 2 days covering the Salford service and 2 days per week covering the Stockport service.

The Stockport dermatology service is currently delivered from Altrincham. The successful candidate must also be confident to deliver education sessions to both patients and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills and will have the ability to work alone and within a multidisciplinary team.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will contribute to the developments of our multi-disciplinary specialist dermatology service, and who has a commitment to continued personal development.  The post holder with a shared responsibility for leadership and management of junior staff in the specialist nursing team. 

Main duties of the job

To support the safe delivery of the nurse led inflammatory skin disease service, for patients who need to access systemic and biologic therapies.

To work closely with all members of the multi professional team to ensure that patients receive seamless dermatology care within the Trust.

To provide specialist advice to support the assessment, planning and implementation of patients care, and where appropriate deliver programmes of care.

To support the Biologics patient helpline.

To provide prescribing support to manage biologic prescriptions.

To competently carry out specialist nursing procedures.

To contribute to specialist education and training programmes for other staff and learners

To contribute to team leadership and management of staff.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.                                                                                                                            

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. Person specification

Dermatology Experience and skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in dermatology supplemented by by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD
  • Experience caring for patients with inflammatory skin disease (eczema, psoriasis, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa)
  • Experience managing dermatology patients who are being prescribed systemic and biological therapies

Essential criteria for band 7 role

Essential criteria
  • • First Degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence
  • • Current NMC registration • First level nurse essential
  • • Significant post registration plus experience within speciality at band 6
  • • Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurses and nursing practice
  • Non medical prescriber
