Job overview

We have a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative, flexible and well motivated Team manager to join the Integrated Hospital Discharge Social Work Team.

Salford is now looking to recruit a Team Manager that has experience of providing management in acute settings with a passion for social work, safeguarding adults, enabling effective integrated working, promoting independence and strengths- based approaches. You will assist the Principal Manager in ensuring the delivery of effective, safe integrated services for adults through the promotion of positive leadership and high standards.

The Adult Social Care workforce aims to improve outcomes for adults who live in Salford by empowering individuals, adopting a strength’s-based approach across the service, promoting independence, and working in partnership with our residents so their experiences, opportunities and lives are as good as they can be. 

You will join a supportive team with experienced senior managers who will provide regular supervision and annual appraisals where you can discuss a range of learning and development opportunities to support you with your continued professional development. You will be supported throughout your time with us by dedicated teams from Practice Development, Leadership and Learning Development. 

Main duties of the job

As part of the management team, the Team Manager role is jointly responsible for ensuring that service objectives are achieved.

Ensuring adult social care and support is delivered as an integral function of the Integrated Care Organisations performance management framework

As a Team Manager you will support effective decision making and establishing processes for identification of activity and variation in service delivery and performance (activity, finance and waiting lists) and make recommendations to the managers on corrective action to be taken, that motivates and builds confidence

The post holder will be required to undertake the role of a Team Manager in any of the service areas across Adult Social Care, dependent on the skills, knowledge and competency requirements of that role.

Promoting and development of asset/strength based assessments with outcomes where services users/ customers to have wider choice & control over their well-being

Involvement in legal proceedings, management of staff and service development which delivers continuous improvement.

To support and enable the development of all staff through relevant gateways, such as ASYE / Level 3 for Social Work, Preceptor ship for Community Nursing and Occupational Therapy. To ensure there are opportunities for effective reflection and that all professionals work within their relevant professional codes of conduct and competency framework.

Registration / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered as a Social Worker with Social work England
  • Recognised Social Work qualification, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS.
  • Appropriate management qualification
  • Participation in Continuing Professional Development to improve and update specialist knowledge

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to effectively supervise and manage social care and Health staff
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant health and social care legislation, policy developments.
  • Thorough understanding of the health and social care needs of adults and their carers/families
  • Evidence of effective professional leadership qualities, ability to lead team and manage/develop staff
  • Demonstrate ability of effective partnership working with key organisations
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to the involvement of service users/patients, carers and providers in the planning, development and evaluation of services
  • Ability to initiate and develop new approaches to service delivery and evidence of involvement in change management
  • Ability to chair meetings in complex situations and use a high standard of negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to analyse and make decisions in relation to risk and service user care in complex cases
  • Ability to keep accurate records and communicate complex and/or sensitive information clearly and concisely both verbally and in written form.
  • Understanding of the business planning process and an ability to collate, monitor and present statistical information
  • An understanding of performance management and the ability to improve performance effectively
  • Ability to work within a budgetary framework
  • Post registration qualification (e.g. practice educator, DOLS, AMHP)
  • To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity.
  • Standard keyboard skills, computer literacy, word processing skills
