Job overview

We are looking for a newly qualified or experienced band 5 with great communication skills that is passionate about providing high-quality and patient centred care in both inpatient and community settings.

The post will be part of the general dietetic band 5 rotation package offering a number of opportunities in addition to clinical work providing additional valuable experience to support your development. The rotations currently consist of Ageing and Complex Medicine, Neurosciences, Neurorehabilitation and Gastroenterology, with each rotation lasting 12 months. The role includes regular staff training, delivering education sessions for both staff and patients, engaging in health promotion activities as well as involvement in audit/QI/service development.

Salford dietetics is an integrated department this rotation enables experience within both acute and community specialities which allows this rotation post to give the successful applicant an opportunity to experience both settings and achieve a rounded portfolio of experience on which to build a successful dietetic career.

Qualifications & Registration

Essential criteria
  • Current State Registered Dietitian with the HCPC / Recent qualification with State registration pending
  • BSc or MSc Degree in nutrition and dietetics or a degree in a relevant subject with post-grad diploma in dietetics (state registration)
Desirable criteria
  • Student supervision accreditation / experience
  • Member of the BDA
  • Member of relevant specialist group

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the current best practice in clinical dietetics
  • Basic competence in calculating nutritional requirements
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment
  • Competent to develop nutritional care plans in hospital and/or community settings
  • Basic competence in assessment of Enteral feeding, use of Enteral feeding products, equipment and regimens
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Basic IT skills
  • Evidence of understanding CPD
  • Awareness and understanding of importance of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to record keep and present information in a clear and logical manner
  • Ability to work autonomously and safely within own remit
  • Use and understanding of various anthropometric methods
