An exciting opportunity has arisen  for a Team Manager, Innovation and Development to join our dynamic team and contribute to the future of our Digital Applications teams.  

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, and other technologies such as AI or RPA.  Strong leadership and resource management skills are essentials, along with the ability to deliver solutions that align with business objectives and the Digital Strategy.  

In this role you will have access to our 2 Day Accelerated Leader Development (ALD) . The Leader Induction is one of a number of modules and development options available for NCA Leaders. This will provide you with the opportunity to understand your responsibilities as a leader and the tools available to support you with your team/service. The programme is interactive with an opportunity to meet, learn and share experiences with other NCA Leaders.

Main duties of the job

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the development and innovations solutions across NHS sites. This includes overseeing the deployment of applications, AI and RPA technologies ensuring alignment with NHS standards and industry best practices.

In addition to strategic planning, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of developers and specialists. You will mentor team members, foster a culture of excellence, and promote professional development to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the team.

As Team Manager you will also be responsible for managing resources, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure the efficient and effective operation of platform and infrastructure services. Your leadership, strategic vision, and technical expertise will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to patients and communities within the NCA.

To lead a team of technical specialists with skills across several specialisms, providing NCA with robust, fit for purpose development, systems and innovation digitally enabling them to provide the best care possible.  As part of this role, the postholder will have a strong technical knowledge of the subject area, able to get involved where necessary to lead projects or troubleshoot and recover from serious system outages.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant master’s degree or equivalent, or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Relevant high level subject matter qualification (e.g. MCSE) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Relevant Leadership Qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. (e.g. ILM/CMI/Degree)
  • Project Management Qualification (Prince2, SCRUM, etc)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Professional, managerial and leadership qualification or equivalent experience at senior management level.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in team management, work scheduling, performance reviews and strategic improvement.
  • Significant experience of development environments
  • Experience and knowledge of the development technology and methodologies
  • Able to identify and resolve complex issues and problems across a broad range of technology solutions
  • Able to evaluate and define use of new technology solutions
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS /experience working within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in contributing to large, strategic technical transformation projects in a complex IT environment.
  • Demonstrable and practical experience at a senior level, in public or private sector, of delivering transformational change to business technologies and processes, to deliver cost savings and service improvements for customers.
