This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences.

We are looking for a highly motivated Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist who has expertise in functional neurosurgery and neurodegenerative conditions. The Neuropsychologist will be experienced in providing comprehensive and specialist neuropsychology assessments of complex neurological conditions and will be skilled in providing interventions using multiple models. You will be neuropsychology service lead for the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative conditions and the deep brain stimulation services.

You will join one of the largest Neuropsychology teams in the country, in a culturally diverse region. We are a group of highly committed and supportive clinicians who work across inpatient, outpatient and community settings supported by an excellent administrative and managerial team.

For this specific post, we are looking for an individual who has experience of  working with other disciplines to help diagnose and treat complex neurological conditions.  .

Main duties of the job

You will be a part of the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology at Salford Royal Hospital and regular, specialist supervision will be provided by our Joint Head of Department. You will also be able to access peer supervision and support from other members of the department who specialise in a wide variety of areas. We are a longstanding department consisting of a friendly and supportive team that provides specialist clinical neuropsychology services at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, and across other inpatient and community services  across Greater Manchester.

Person specification

Registration / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Eligibility for membership of the British Psychological Society and Division of Clinical Psychology is required.
  • Eligibility for membership of the Division of Neuropsychology is essential.
  • HCPC Registration
  • Honours Degree in Psychology
  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Postdoctoral Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) and related eligibility for Division of Neuropsychology Specialist Register in Clinical Neuropsychology (SRCN) via this or the grand-parenting scheme.
Desirable criteria
  • Academic qualification such as Diploma or MSc in Research Methodology or PhD.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 4 years previous experience in a regional neuroscience centre or clinical psychology service affiliated to a neuroscience centre.
  • Previous experience of differential diagnosis of dementias and DBS surgery
  • Prior experience of multidisciplinary team (MDT) working.
  • Previous experience of providing line management and clinical supervision to qualified Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists.
Desirable criteria
  • Prior experience of service development
  • Prior experience of research activity.
