An exciting opportunity has become available for a Consultant Prosthetist to work within the ENT Prosthetics service, part of Salford Care Organisation.

The Consultant Practitioner will be responsible for providing expert clinical, scientific, advisory and support services to patients undergoing reconstructive procedures or rehabilitation using implants, splints and prostheses.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant Practitioner will be responsible for providing expert clinical, scientific, advisory and support services to patients undergoing reconstructive procedures or rehabilitation using implants, splints and prostheses.

They will provide consultancy and work across the four pillars of practice (clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research) putting expertise in place across systems of health and social care.

At least 50% of their time will be in clinical practice ensuring that this advances and underpins practice within their specialty and beyond.

To contribute to the strategic direction and implementation of the corporate objectives and clinical strategy within the local service.

To proactively lead the service within the Division/Care Group/service, providing support, guidance and direction to achieve optimal clinical effectiveness, and financial outcomes.

  • MSc Maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • MSc Maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation
  • HCPC qualification

Knowedge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge in relevant specialist area of practice and formal training in specialist field
  • Demonstrable knowledge of risk management processes and clinical governance
  • Applied research methodology at post-graduate level
  • Significant post qualification experience in an NHS organisation or equivalent
  • Expertise in relevant specialist area of practice with significant experience across the 4 pillars clinical, leadership, education, and research
  • Significant experience in planning activities and quality improvement projects resulting in improved outcomes
  • Experience in policy development and implementation
Desirable criteria
  • Training in QI

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Proven high standard of technical work in the manufacture of: o Osseointegrated prostheses, Facial Prosthetics, Hand & Finger Prosthetics, Breast and NAC Prosthetics, Indwelling Orbits, Leg Contour Defects
  • Expert communication skills in managing highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, and supporting people in making complex decisions
  • Able to make judgements involving highly complex facts where there may be conflicting information/opinion
  • Evidence of translation of research evidence into practice through guidance or policy authorship
  • Ability to analyse data to produce stereolithography models, CADCAM.
  • Experience of gathering and analysing complex information/report writing
  • Excellent IT/digital skills Evidence of leadership skills
