We are looking for a clinical psychologist with a passion for working with children, young people and families to join us in Stockport CAMHS. We are a welcoming team who value clinical psychology and have a strong well-being ethos with a supportive, compassionate culture. We are also fortunate to be based in a modern purpose-built suite of clinical spaces and offices.

 

The role will be based within across our assessment and treatment teams. You will undertake psychological and mental health assessments as part of the assessment team and develop formulations and deliver therapies to children young people and their families. Within the treatment team we are able to offer interventions based on a range of approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, IPT, DDP, CFT, Systemic Family Therapy and Psychotherapy. You will be supported in your clinical development by in house training programmes and access to additional training as appropriate. Supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and there are also a number of other Clinical Psychologists working in the core CAMHS team, LD CAMHS and with children who are in care, providing good opportunities for personal and professional networking and support.

 

This post has been created using temporary money but there may be opportunities to apply for a permanent post in the future.

To contribute to the systematic provision of a high quality specialist clinical 
psychology service to the children and young people who are in the care of 
Stockport, across all sectors of care. 
To carry a caseload of children and their families for the purpose of the 
assessment and treatment of children presenting with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. 
To supervise and support psychology assistants and trainees in the provision of good quality assessments and treatment. 
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychology practice within clinical practice. 
To utilise research skills for audit and research in agreement with lead 
psychologists within the service.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

Delivery of service provision within the parameters of child and adolescent mental health, in a multi-agency context.
To provide specialist assessments of children and adolescents referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with clients, family members and/or carers.
To formulate and implement plans for therapeutic intervention or management based on an appropriate conceptual framework, working in home, social services, community, hospital and educational settings where appropriate. Communication of this to the referrer and other relevant professionals.
To provide psychological training, advice and consultation to staff from health and other agencies in areas relevant to direct clinical work and to clinical service provision.
To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, 
treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by 
psychologically based care plans.
To contribute a specialist psychological perspective to case planning and multi-agency case conferences and reviews and call multi-professional meetings when appropriate.
To communicate highly complex condition-related or contentious or sensitive information where there may be significant barriers to acceptance and to manage ensuing difficult interpersonal situations in the interests of the patient’s welfare.
To undertake emergency assessments incorporating risk assessment.
To keep accurate records of work including the compilation of appropriate 
statistics.
To provide written reports as required
To contribute to the in house, working week, on call rota
