Job overview

To work with appropriate service/clinical/professional guidelines in the development and delivery of both group and individual clinical interventions which engage clients in therapeutic activities.

 -To work with service users to identify occupational goals within a treatment session as part of the overall occupational therapy care plan.

-To assist the qualified Occupational Therapist, as required, in the delivery of Occupational Therapy programmes on an individual and group basis.

-To adopt a non-judgmental approach with patients, which is based upon respect and dignity

-To undertake occupational activity with patients that promotes recovery, is valued and undertakes to increase independence.

-To seek feedback from service users regarding their experience of OT and share feedback with the OT team to inform service design and delivery.

 

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the delivery of Occupational Therapy within the adult acute wards.

Position in Organisation: Responsible managerially and professionally to Head Occupational Therapist, Reports to Band 6 Occupational Therapist.

Scope and Authority: Under the guidance of Occupational Therapist, to be autonomous in the planning and carrying out specified group activities.

Working for our organisation

Norbury Ward is a female acute ward situated at Stepping Hill Hospital.

The ward provides assessment, treatment and support to service users within the Pennine Care footprint, who maybe experiencing mental health illness.

  • NVQ 3 or City and Guilds or equivalent experience

  • Working in direct contact with patients, service users, public etc.
  • Experience of working with people living with Mental Illness.

  • Experience of group work
  • Experience of behaviours that challenge
