The children's outpatient department is part of the Treehouse Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking paediatric phlebotomy clinics within the children's outpatient department. The post holder may at times be asked to undertake other clinical and non clinical tasks within the department, for which full training will be provided.

You must be flexible and hardworking with good communication skills to work in a busy rewarding environment. You must possess good team working skills and be able to work independently with your colleagues and senior members of the service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy / ECG / Clerical duties within the children's outpatient department. 
  • To be ANTT compliant and follow all infection control polices and procedures.
  • Ensure clinic rooms are clean, safe and presentable at all times
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patient information, whilst actively contributing to the improvement of quality service to patients.
  • Communicating  effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written  information. 
  • Maintaining the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the department, whilst contributing  to the efficient management of clinic resources, including ordering/monitoring of supplies, along with routine housekeeping activities.
  • Able to work autonomously and take responsibility for own workload 
  • Liaise with various members of the multidisciplinary team including other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation
  • Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform standards

The key components of the role are to be safe and competent at  phlebotomy in line with ANTT guidelines.  You will also be responsible for maintain dignity and respect to your patients at all times, hard working, flexible and approachable. If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary 

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
